HelpNDoc is totally free, without any limitation, for personal use only (this means for non-profit and non-commercial uses).
The only difference between HelpNDoc Free version and the purchased version is a little text available at the bottom of each page, which look like this:
The Full version of HelpNDoc doesn't contain this message and can be used for profit purposes.
Update policy
If you order HelpNDoc today, you are entitled for free updates for at least one year. Here is how this works:

never been so cheap to create HTML Help Files!
HelpNDoc costs only 45€. Once registered, you get
the full version of the program, allowing the use for commercial and profit purposes and without the banner at the bottom of each page, and all the updates till
the next version cycle and
for at least one year. What does this mean? Let's
see an example:
 You
buy the version 1.5 of HelpNDoc
the 5th of September, 2005...
You
will receive every updates for free till the 5th of September, 2006
included...
Then
if on the 5th of September 2006 the current version is 1.9, you
will continue to receive updates till version 2.5!
Therefore you have no excuses to wait till the next version before
ordering! Besides as features get implemented, the price of the
program is likely to grow. By ordering now you are sure to pay
the minimum and get every upgrade for at least one year!

Following is the price for each licence when you order:
1 Licence : 45€
2-3 Licences : 42€
4-6 Licences : 39€
7-9 Licences : 36€
